Bhoomipujan ceremony held

In a significant development aimed at enhancing the commuting experience for Navi Mumbai residents, MLA Manda Mhatre spearheaded the bhoomipujan ceremony for the construction of a state-of-the-art bus depot along the Vashi Sion-Panvel Highway, near Vashi Plaza bus station.

The decision to establish the bus stop was following the challenges faced by commuters, including the presence of beggars encamped outside the bus stop and other related issues. MLA Manda Mhatre, in collaboration with the Public Works Department, has undertaken efforts to address these concerns and provide a comprehensive solution to enhance the overall public transport experience.

During the Bhoomipujan ceremony, MLA Manda Mhatre highlighted the plight of homeless and destitute individuals setting up makeshift shelters on the footpaths near the bus station, creating unsanitary conditions and posing safety risks for passengers. She emphasized the need for a well-equipped bus stop to alleviate these challenges and enhance the overall safety and convenience for commuters.

To address these issues, Rs. 40 crores have been sanctioned through the Public Works Department, with Rs. 20 crores allocated for amenity-related improvements along the Sion Panvel Highway. This initiative aims to not only provide facilities for local residents and victims of ongoing projects but also significantly improve the commuting experience for Vashi citizens and passengers.

The proposed bus stop, with an estimated cost of Rs. 50 lakhs, will feature essential amenities such as waiting room, toilets, ensuring a comfortable and pleasant environment for passengers.
