Commuters highlight issues regarding open slabs on the footpath and shabby surroundings

While a majority of commuters exit from the subways facing the Raghuleela side of Vashi stations, a significant number of commuters also use the eastern side of Vashi station to go towards Sanpada. The commuters and residents who frequent this area, have raised concerns about how neglected the peripheral areas outside the station are on this side.

Commuters have voiced their grievances, citing many issues plaguing the surroundings. They observed that plastic tubes and wires were left unattended and a bench meant for pedestrians was under all that rubble.

While speaking to Newsband, Jeevan Joy, a daily commuter said, “Since this side, does not receive heavy footfall like the other side of Vashi station does one is concerned about the aesthetics of this area, authorities have turned a blind eye to this problem even though its right under their nose.”

Harsh Juneja, a resident of Sanpada said, “My office is in Vashi and also my son studies at Father Agnel High School, when we pass by this area in the morning, I have noticed slabs that have caved in, this has become a hazard for people walking here. There is also an overgrowth of plants and shrubs near a bench which could have been used for seating. This area is in urgent need of a makeover.”

Echoing his concerns, Karan Poojary, another resident of Sanpada said, “There are also a lot of dried leaves and plants which have been kept aside near the footpath, there are also plastic and beer bottles lying around. At the moment, Vashi station is also missing indicators on both subway entrances. This area is completely overlooked and neglected, we hope our pleas are heard.”
