Navi Mumbai Police Cricket Club seals semi-final spot in Times Shield Tournament

The Navi Mumbai Police Cricket Club has emerged victorious, clinching a spot in the semi-finals of Group C in the prestigious Times Shield office cricket tournament, one of Asia's oldest and most renowned cricket competitions. Overcoming tough oppositions in a pool of 16 teams, including stalwarts like Mumbai Police Gymkhana, Union Bank, Bank of India, and Hindustan Petroleum, the Navi Mumbai Police Cricket Club displayed exceptional prowess to advance.
Despite facing the challenge of having no access to regular practice, net sessions, or fitness training for the past three years, the team showcased an outstanding performance, garnering applause and congratulations from various sports domains for their stellar feat in reaching the semi-finals.
Established on November 11, 2011, under the visionary guidance of former Police Commissioner of Navi Mumbai Police Commissionerate, Ahmed Javed, the Navi Mumbai Police Cricket Club holds recognition as an affiliated office club registered with the Mumbai Cricket Association. The team comprises police constables hailing from rural areas of Pen, Panvel, Uran, and Raigad, yet it has garnered numerous accolades in the last 12 years, clinching titles in various Mumbai Cricket Association tournaments, elevating the prestige of the Navi Mumbai Police Commissionerate in the sports arena.
The outstanding performance of the team hasn't gone unnoticed, drawing attention from cricket luminaries like Bharat Ratna Sachin Tendulkar and former Indian captain and Chairman of the Indian Selection Committee, Dilip Vengsarkar, who personally met the team, acknowledging their remarkable achievements.
Under the leadership of captain police constable Arun Ghogere and vice-captain police constable Amit Wadkar, the team has exhibited exceptional skills and resilience, propelling them to the semi-finals. Milind Bharambe, the current Police Commissioner of Navi Mumbai Police Commissionerate and a sports enthusiast himself, instills confidence in the players, providing invaluable guidance and support.
Assistant Police Inspector Subhash Shinde, the mentor and coach behind the team's inception in 2011, under the guidance of former Police Commissioner Ahmed Javed, continues to coach and steer the team toward success, emphasizing teamwork and dedication as the pillars of their achievements.
