Navi Mumbai Police cracks down on illegal activities ahead of Lok Sabha elections

In anticipation of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and festive season, Navi Mumbai Police has intensified efforts to combat illegal businesses and activities. A recent operation conducted within the jurisdiction of Circle-1 resulted in the apprehension of 386 individuals engaged in illicit ventures and unlawful behaviour.

The operation targeted areas under the jurisdiction of 10 police stations within the Navi Mumbai Police Commissionerate Circle-1. A total of 20 locations were cordoned off during the initiative, encompassing Vashi, APMC, Koparkhairane, Rabale, Rabale MIDC, Turbhe MIDC, Sanpada, Nerul, NRI, and CBD.

Under the supervision of 14 police officers and supported by 74 enforcers, the blockade led to the arrest of offenders involved in various infractions. Four individuals were detained for violating the Mumbai Liquor Ban Section 65, while 14 others faced charges under Section 85 of the same prohibition. Additionally, eight drug users were apprehended, along with others accused of violating sections such as KOFTA-55, Motor Vehicle Act-293, Drunk and Drive, as well as Section 285 and 283.

Pankaj Dahane, Deputy Commissioner of Police Circle-1, emphasized the importance of such initiatives in maintaining peace and order during crucial events like elections and festivals. He said that similar campaigns will be conducted in future as well to uphold lawfulness within Circle-1.
