Belapur: In a move to enhance citizen convenience and streamline access to services, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has installed touchscreen navigation screens at its headquarters. These digital kiosks are aimed at helping visitors effortlessly locate departments and officials within the iconic building.

"The NMMC headquarters sees a steady footfall of citizens for various administrative needs, along with visits from dignitaries and tourists due to the building’s distinctive architecture. Given its large and complex layout, locating specific departments has often been a challenge. To address this, the civic body has now implemented an advanced digital navigation system," an official said.

The new touch-enabled navigation screens display detailed floor maps of the building. By selecting the desired department or official on the screen, users are shown clear directional guidance from the nearest lift to the correct office. The route is also provided in written form for added clarity.

All information is displayed in both Marathi and English, ensuring accessibility for all visitors.

Currently, the first of these screens has been installed near the central lift on the ground floor, with additional screens being set up on the second, third, and fourth floors. "These kiosks are expected to significantly reduce confusion and save time for citizens, enabling them to reach their destination directly without assistance<" said the official.

In addition to these digital aids, the municipal corporation has also placed directional boards across the premises. Departments with high public footfall are prioritized in the navigation interface for quicker access.

Municipal Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde emphasized that the initiative is part of a broader push toward integrating modern technology into public service delivery. “Our aim is to ensure that all civic services are easily accessible. The navigation screens are another step in our commitment to citizen-friendly governance,” he said.
