Navi Mumbai: Following repeated requests regarding garbage dumped at a plot adjoining Palm Beach Road opposite the DPS school, NMMC decided to initiate action and clean up the area.

Local residents, including parents of students o Delhi Public School (DPS), had repeatedly flagged the issue to municipal authorities, but the situation continued to deteriorate.

“The plot is literally stinking and is an eyesore in an otherwise prestigious locality at the time when the corporation has undertaken large-scale beautification drives,” said local resident Shruti Agrawal who has been constantly appealing to NMMC to take measures about the dumping of garbage.

Residents claim an illegal nursery had mushroomed in the plot and was removed with the intervention of alert residents.  After that dumping of garbage began and slowly that corner became a dump yard.

“That plot is basically for maintaining a pathway towards the Nerul Jetty and could easily be converted into green space or, butterfly garden, or a children’s green zone,” shared Sunil Agarwal, the complainant.

AMC Dr Amol Palve visited the plot to have a first-hand idea of the situation. Dr Palve later asked for immediate clearance of the area. A JCB was deployed to clear the area of garbage and waste.
