Navi Mumbai: Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport’s (NMMT) decision to cancel the AC bus service from Seawoods railway station to World Trade Centre has left commuters high and dry.

As a result, many commuters who used to travel on the bus no: 108 has been either forced to travel by train or try to wriggle into NMMT’s other bus plying the same route.

It was very convenient for commuters to travel from Navi Mumbai to Mantralaya during peak office hours. The service was cancelled in April 2025.

The NMMT AC buses no 108 left Seawoods at 7.50 am and the second service was scheduled for 10 minutes later. It was preferred as it was a convenient mode of transport for hundreds of morning office goers.

Commuters have been demanding reinstatement of the bus service. However, all representations to the NMMT and NMMC have fallen on deaf ears.

“When contacted, NMMT said buses in route no 108 and 106 were cancelled due to mounting losses and also due to paucity of funds,” Adv AK Pandey, from Nerul, a daily commuter, said.

“When questioned about the reduction of 50 per cent % of fare for ladies’ commuters, the official said that it is the State Government Order, they have to abide by this and cannot revert to full fare without the consent of the state government. Due to tussle between the State Government and NMMT authorities, we the commuters are facing the struggle,” he added.
