Navi Mumbai: Project-affected people of CIDCO began an indefinite sit-in protest in front of CIDCO Bhavan on Monday, demanding the immediate halt to actions against their homes and the quick distribution of their 12.5 per cent land entitlements.
Led by organisations like CITU, Akhil Bharatiya Kisan Sabha, and D.Y.F.I., the protesters vowed to continue the sit-in until their demands are met.
Their main concern is CIDCO’s continued action against homes that the government had decided to regularise.
More than 400 families in the Dronagiri node of Uran, after waiting for over forty years, are still awaiting their 12.5 per cent land allotment. Protesters are demanding immediate land distribution, the cancellation of the MAVEJA levy, and the payment of increased compensation as per court orders.
They also called for the cancellation of the 22.5% land allotment to investors in Ulwe node and its redistribution to project victims.
Further demands include the cancellation of a September 2024 government resolution on construction for project victims, cleaning the village pond during Ganesh immersion, and giving grants to village panchayats for the lighting scheme instead of contracting companies.
