Naupada and Rabodi police conduct mock drill in Thane

The Naupada and Rabodi police stations in Thane city conducted a color and coordinated mock drill on Friday, showcasing their preparedness to rescue citizens trapped in rainwater during monsoon emergencies. This exercise took place at 11:20 AM and 12:30 PM respectively, involving senior police officers, municipal officials, and fire brigade personnel.

The first drill, reported to the disaster management room at 11:20 AM, simulated a scenario where residents of Chikhalwadi slum were trapped due to heavy rainwater accumulation near a public toilet in Bhaskar Colony, Naupada, Thane (W). The Naupada police, along with the disaster management team, fire brigade, Thane Disaster Response Force, municipal staff, and Mahavitaran personnel, swiftly responded with a pickup vehicle and an ambulance from the Thane Municipal Corporation. The exercise lasted for half an hour, successfully demonstrating the effective rescue of the trapped residents without any injuries.

Shortly after, at 12:10 PM, a similar drill was conducted by the Rabodi police station, responding to a report of residents trapped by rainwater near Anand Tare Bungalow, Anand Park, Shrirang Society, Thane (W). The Rabodi police, supported by the disaster management team, fire brigade, Thane Disaster Response Force, and municipal staff, promptly arrived at the scene with an ambulance. This exercise was completed in 12 minutes, efficiently rescuing all trapped residents.

“These mock drills emphasized the readiness and coordination of the Thane police and supporting agencies in handling flood-related emergencies, ensuring the safety and well-being of the citizens during the upcoming monsoon season”, stated an official.
