In a letter addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Member of Parliament, Rajan Vichare expressed his gratitude for the recent decision to start the Navi Mumbai Metro without any formal inauguration. In similar lines, he has requested a go ahead to start the Digha Gaon railway station, which has been completed for the last seven months as part of the ambitious Airoli-Kalwa Elevated project.

The delayed inauguration of the Navi Mumbai Metro left residents of the 11 stations along the route in a state of uncertainty, with the metro running empty multiple times a day. A signature campaign organized by the Shiv Sena at the CBD station in Navi Mumbai brought attention to the discontent among common passengers towards the administration of both the Prime Minister and CIDCO. The situation was ultimately resolved after Prime Minister Modi instructed the Chief Minister to commence operations immediately after Diwali, bypassing the official inauguration process.

The senior politician pointed out that the Digha Gaon railway station, despite being ready and awaiting passengers, has not yet been operationalized. The IT companies mushrooming in the Digha area and the working-class individuals commuting from outside are currently reliant on Airoli and Thane railway stations. Vichare stressed the urgency of starting Digha Gaon Railway to prevent unnecessary wastage of time and money for passengers.

The construction of Digha Gaon railway station involved substantial public funds, and its delayed opening has not only impeded the convenience of commuters but has also led to decreased revenue for the railways, stated Vichare, in his letter to Prime Minister Modi.
