Mixed outings for Bombay Union SC and NMSA: Kanga League

Left-arm spinner Abhishek Pandey impressive bowling (6/18) helped Bombay Union Sports Club record a win against Blue Star Cricket Club on the basis of the first innings lead in a ‘G’ Division match of the Dr. H.D. Kanga League 2024-2025 Cricket tournament, played at the Government Law College ground, Oval Maidan.

Electing to field first, Bombay Union inspired by Pandey efforts dismissed Blue Star for a paltry 43 runs in 32 overs in the first innings. Vansh Akbari was the lone Blue Star batter to score 31 runs. In reply, Bombay Union declared their innings at 46 for 4 in 20 overs after taking a crucial 3-run first innings lead, which sealed their win and the three points.

On the other hand Navi Mumbai Sports Association which had topped the previous editions ‘F’ Division ahead of KRP XI Cricket Club and Bharat Cricket Club found the going tough and lost their ‘E’ Division league match against Rajasthan Sports Club on the basis of first innings lead.

An inspired spell by Sachin More (4/19) resulted in the Vashi based outfit NMSA being bundled out for 68 in 21.1 overs. Rajasthan Sports Club batters showed more intent on a tricky wicket and overhauled the meagre total with five wickets in hand in less than 20 overs, before they declared their innings closed.  The vital 3-run first innings lead, in the end saw them emerge triumphant in the end.

In an ‘H’ Division match Dashing Sports Club also won against Mohan Cricket Club based on their narrow 9-run first innings lead. Put in to bat, Dashing SC were bowled out for 82 runs in 34.5 overs. Middle order bat Durgesh Yadav held the innings together and top-scored with 44 runs in the face of a five wicket haul by Mohan CC’s medium pacer Suraj Sharma and left-arm spinner Durvesh Patil two scalps. Dashing SC bowlers did well to defend the small total as they bowled out their rivals for 73 run in 27.1 overs to secure a morale boosting win.

New Amrit Cricket Club - 57 all out & 40 all out Vs KRP XI Cricket Club - 84 for 9 decl. Result: KRP XI CC won on 1st innings lead.

Division G:

Blue Star Cricket Club - 43 all out in 32 overs (Vansh Akbari 31; Abhishek Pandey 6/18, Aniket Juvekar 2/2) & 12 for no loss in  6 overs Vs Bombay Union Sports Club - 46 for 4 decl. in 20 overs (Milind Gharat 17*; Nikunj Tank 2/11, Omkar Chettiar 2/13). Result: Bombay Union CC won on 1st innings lead.

Gamdevi Cricketers - 135 for 6 decl. in 47 overs (Devansh Trivedi 67) Vs Vile Parle Sports Club - 54 for 5 in 21 oversResult: Match drawn.

Division H:

Dashing Sports Club - 82 all out in 34.5 overs (Durgesh Yadav 44; Suraj Sharma 5/12, Durvesh Patil 2/21) & 18 for 4 decl. in 12.5 overs Vs Mohan Cricket Club - 73 all out, 27.1 overs (Prithvi Khakar 40; Saurabh Tiwari 5/20, Tanish Save 2/21, Nishchay Arora 2/24). Result: Dashing SC won on 1st innings lead.

Bandra Gymkhana - 108 all out in 47 overs & 45 for no loss decl. Vs Paramount Cricket Club - 70 all out in 19 overs & 16 for 1 in 3 oversResult: Bandra Gymkhana won on 1st innings lead.
