Mira Road News: Close to Rs 2 cr lost in bogus investment scheme

Mira Road: Mira Road police has registered case against two for allegedly duping a resident of Rs 1.92 crore under the pretext of investment in private companies.

According to police sources, the complainant, Mohammad Sajid Salim Munshi (46), a resident of Beverly Park, Kanakia, Mira Road, was persuaded to invest a substantial amount in two firms — Impax Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd. and D.N. Infrastructure — through Raising Q International Impact Pvt. Ltd.

Munshi initially invested Rs 36.49 lakh in Impax Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd., operated by Natwarlal Purohit. Subsequently, he invested an additional Rs 1.40 crore in DN Infrastructure, associated with Dhaval Purohit. Besides these investments, Munshi also provided a bill worth Rs 15,287 for steel bars on Dhaval Purohit’s request.

The total amount involved stands at Rs 1.92 crore. When Munshi later demanded the return of his investments, the accused allegedly refused to repay the sum, leading to the filing of the criminal complaint.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, a police official from Mira Road Police Station confirmed, "An offence has been registered against Natwarlal Purohit and Dhaval Purohit under relevant sections pertaining to cheating and criminal breach of trust. The matter is under investigation."
