Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation secures second rank in state for combating TB

In a significant achievement, Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation (MBMC) has secured the second position state wide for its exemplary performance in combating tuberculosis (TB). The municipal corporation garnered a commendable total of 77.80 points out of a possible 100, placing it ahead of 20 other municipal corporations in Maharashtra. This achievement underscores MBMC's commitment and effectiveness in implementing the National Tuberculosis Eradication Programme.

Under the ambitious goal set by the Prime Minister to make India TB-free by 2025, MBMC has played a pivotal role in the state's efforts. The corporation has focused on comprehensive TB testing, free drug services, and ensuring accessible facilities for suspected TB patients. Each year, municipal corporations across Maharashtra are tasked with specific targets to detect and treat TB cases, with MBMC surpassing expectations.

City Tuberculosis Officer, Dr. Balnath Chakor, credited the dedicated efforts of medical staff including medical officers, nurses, paramedics, multipurpose workers, and link workers for this remarkable achievement. The collaboration and guidance provided by Medical Health Officer Dr. BT Dudhbhate, Additional Commissioner Dr. Sambhaji Panpatte, and Commissioner/Administrator. Sanjay Katkar was instrumental in MBMC's success.

Dr. Chakor highlighted that out of 1318 TB patients identified, an impressive 90% have successfully completed treatment and are cured. This outcome reflects the effectiveness of MBMC's strategies in combating TB and ensuring better health outcomes for its residents.
