Mira-Bhayandar: In a major push toward futuristic urban mobility, air taxi services will soon be launched in the Mira-Bhayandar region, making it the first suburban area of Mumbai to deploy the innovative and futuristic mode of transport.
Maharashtra transport minister Pratap Sarnaik confirmed that all necessary approvals for survey and planning have been granted to the implementing agency by the Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation.
“The existing road infrastructure is under increasing pressure. Air taxis will serve as a smart, efficient, and affordable transport alternative,” Sarnaik said.
The air taxis will be part of public transport revamp being planned for the region. The air taxis would complement the metro network by providing crucial last-mile connectivity, he pointed out. The Metro project is expected to be operational in Mira-Bhayandar by December 2025.
“This initiative will transform how people travel in the region and will make Mira-Bhayandar a model for urban transport planning,” the minister added.
“We are committed to bringing the same innovation here. A plot near JP Infrastructure has been identified for this purpose, and the project will play a vital role in shaping the city’s future transport landscape,” Sarnaik added.
