Bhayandar: Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) has released an updated list of low-lying areas within its jurisdiction that are prone to waterlogging during heavy rainfall. The list has been made available on the official MBMC website: www.mbmc.gov.in.
Due to the geographical nature of certain regions within the city’s 79.2 sq km area, water accumulation is a recurring challenge during the rainy season. In anticipation of this, the MBMC has taken several precautionary measures to mitigate potential risks to residents.
Commenting on the preparedness, Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Radhabinod Sharma (IAS) said, “Public safety is our highest priority. We have identified vulnerable areas and implemented preventative actions, including desilting of drains, strengthening the stormwater drainage system, and setting up emergency pumping mechanisms."
"We urge citizens to avoid unnecessary travel in waterlogged areas, stay away from electric poles and exposed wires, and refrain from dumping plastic and waste into drains. The community’s cooperation is crucial in tackling the challenges of the monsoon," said Sharma.
In addition to on-ground preparations, MBMC has also activated its 24x7 control room and emergency helplines. Citizens are encouraged to stay informed through the corporation’s official website and social media platforms.
Emphasizing the importance of community vigilance, he said, “The municipal administration is fully prepared for the monsoon. However, every responsible citizen must remain alert, follow safety guidelines, and not fall prey to rumours. Together, we can ensure a safe and secure monsoon for all,” he added.
