Mira Bhayander: The Mira Bhayander Welfare Association(MBWA) has submitted a memorandum to the Sub-Divisional Officer, MBMC Commissioner, and Police Commissioner, demanding strict action against the illegal Baleshah Peer Dargah in Uttan, Mira Bhayander. The association insists that the administration must demolish the illegal structure within the government’s declared deadline.
The Baleshah Peer Dargah, located on the Uttan coastline, is reportedly built on government land, occupying approximately 57 hectares. The association has raised concerns over the environmental and security risks posed by this unauthorized construction. "This illegal dargah is not only an environmental threat but also a major security risk. Intelligence reports in the past have highlighted the possibility of terrorist activities, illegal operations, and the presence of unauthorized Rohingya and Bangladeshi immigrants in the area," said Adv. Ravi Vyas, a representative of the Mira Bhayander Welfare Association.
The association emphasized that despite a notice issued by the Sub-Divisional Officer to the Dargah Trust to demolish the illegal structure, no action has been taken so far. The issue gained prominence after Maharashtra Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule announced in the state assembly that the illegal dargah would be removed by May 20.
"We demand that the local administration strictly adhere to the state government’s directive and ensure that the illegal dargah is demolished by the specified deadline," the association's memorandum stated.
A delegation from the association met with the Sub-Divisional Officer, MBMC Commissioner, and Police Commissioner, urging them to perform their respective duties in implementing the state’s order. The authorities, recognizing the seriousness of the issue, assured the association of legal action and adherence to the deadline.
"The coming days will reveal how and when the local authorities act on the state government’s order to demolish the illegal structure," said Adv. Vyas.
