No casualties reported, causes three-hour delay on Friday night

A local train heading towards CSMT experienced a significant incident on Friday night when its last coach derailed at Kalyan railway station. The accident occurred on platform number 2 at approximately 8:55 p.m., but fortunately, no passengers were injured. However, the derailment caused significant disruptions to train services on the down line.

As soon as the incident was reported, the technical staff at Kalyan railway station sprang into action to initiate repairs. The train, which was traveling from Titwala to CSMT, was moving at a reduced speed as it approached the station due to having fewer passengers. This helped avoid a more serious accident when the last carriage next to the guard's compartment slipped off the tracks.

Kalyan's Government Railway Police (GRP), Railway Protection Force (RPF), and other technical teams arrived quickly at the scene to assist with the recovery efforts. After nearly three hours of work, the derailed coach was successfully placed back on the tracks, allowing train services to resume.

The derailment affected train operations between Kalyan and CST, leading to delays for commuters, especially those returning home from work or heading out for night shifts.

Central Railway Chief Spokesperson Dr. Swapnil Nila confirmed that train services between Kalyan and Kasara were disrupted, with three trains, including the Punjab Mail, being affected.

In the midst of the chaos, Rupesh Bhoir from the Shiv Sena Ubhata group rushed to the aid of stranded passengers. Noticing the distress of those affected, he created a footpath from the railway tracks to the Patri Bridge and arranged halogen lights to improve visibility in the dark. His efforts provided crucial assistance, including drinking water, to hundreds of passengers awaiting help.
