Kharghar: In the backdrop of increasing instances of traffic violations particularly haphazard parking and flouting of no-parking regulations, Kharghar police has increased its vigil and mounted repeated drives to penalise the violators.
On May 11, Kharghar Traffic Police led by senior inspector Santosh Kane carried out drive in Kendriya Vihar area. “The police registered 15 e-challan cases,” Kane said.
Earlier, a similar drive was organised in Jal Vayu bus stop in sector 20. Drivers of four-wheel and two-wheel vehicles and even shops that had encroached on footpath and the road were targeted. Traffic violations are becoming a major issue. Many people park their vehicles in no-parking areas and even in the middle of the road, causing severe traffic congestion.
In an appeal to the public, Kane said, "I request the citizens to avoid parking in no-parking areas. Please follow travel guidelines, wear a helmet, and maintain vehicle speed according to RTO guidelines.”
Stressing on the traffic police’s resolve to implement the law, DPC Tirupati Kakade, in an interview to Newsband, said, Navi Mumbai Traffic Police conducts regular drives to ensure traffic rules are not violated and no inconvenience is caused to the public. “Traffic rules are sacrosanct and everyone needs to follow and comply. To ensure compliance with the law, we have a two-fold strategy Educating the drivers and penalising them,” Kakade told Newsband.
