Kalyan: Over 130 women, majority of them hailing from underprivileged sections of the society from the Greater Mumbai Region, have been empowered to dream big and become independent through training in retail sales and business correspondent business facilitator (BCBF) roles.
As many as 137 underprivileged women from Mumbai suburbs such as Kalyan and Nalasopara were extended training in BFSI & retail sector by NeoGrowth, an NBFC, as part of its skilling programme.
The FY 2025 intervention included structured classroom training of 120+ hours, professional assessments, and certification through the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).
“At NeoGrowth, we believe that uplifting communities by empowering women is critical to achieving inclusive economic growth. Through NeoShakti, we are investing in the potential of multiple women who can become catalysts of change within their families and communities through their entrepreneurial abilities, said Arun Nayyar, MD & CEO of NeoGrowth.
NeoGrowth, a new-age lender, with a focus on Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), partnered the Times Employ India Foundation for the initiative which was delivered at Indala College of Engineering in Kalyan and a dedicated centre in Nallasopara.
For many participants, this marks their first opportunity to build industry-relevant skills to enter the workforce and contribute financially to their families.
Commenting on the initiative, Arun Kabra, president – enterprise business and CFO, TimesPro said, “By delivering holistic, placement-linked training, we are not just building skills—we are transforming and empowering women to participate meaningfully in the formal economy and lead change within their families and communities.”
Beyond its immediate impact, the initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, addressing: gender equality by empowering women to lead financially (SDG 5) and Decent Work & Economic Growth through formal job placements (SDG 8).
