Kalyan: The Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) held a pre-monsoon review meeting on April 25, chaired by KDMC Commissioner Abhinav Goyal, to assess the city’s readiness for the monsoon.

Commissioner Goyal directed civic officials to expedite drain cleaning and ensure early removal of silt to prevent waterlogging.

He emphasised the need for daily cleaning at Garbage Vulnerable Points (GVPs) near large, medium, and smaller drains to maintain smooth water flow during heavy rainfall.

Recognising the challenges in flood-prone areas, the Commissioner instructed the formation of special teams at the ward level. These teams will be responsible for maintaining essential services and responding promptly in areas where rainwater tends to accumulate.

To ensure effective implementation, Goyal ordered all departments within KDMC to begin work on these directives without delay. He stressed that early action would help minimise disruptions during the monsoon and improve the city's overall disaster preparedness.

With the rainy season approaching, KDMC is focusing on preventive measures and coordinated efforts to ensure uninterrupted civic services and reduce the risk of waterlogging across vulnerable zones.
