Huge hoarding collapses due to heavy rainfall at Sahajanand Chowk in Kalyan

Kalyan: Barely two months after the Ghatkopar hoarding collapse case which claimed 17 lives, a huge hoarding collapses due to heavy rainfall at Sahajanand Chowk in Kalyan. Luckily, there were no casualties in the incident however, three vehicles were damaged in the incident. This is the second such incident following the Ghatkopar. In response to the incident, Municipal Commissioner Dr. Indu Rani Jakhar, Additional Commissioner Harshal Gaikwad, and Deputy Commissioner of the Property Department Ramesh Misal visited the site to assess the situation.
Dr. Jakhar announced that action will be taken against the parties responsible for posting the banners on the affected hoarding. Additionally, the contractor responsible for the installation will be held accountable for compensating the vehicle owners for the damage incurred.
Following the incident, a thorough inspection of all hoardings within the Municipal Corporation’s jurisdiction has been ordered. This includes verifying the condition of the hoardings and ensuring that banners are securely and properly placed. Dr. Jakhar has directed that a direct inspection of all hoardings across the six municipal wards be conducted, and a detailed report be submitted to assess and address any potential issues.
