Four bookies apprehended for online betting on India-Pakistan cricket match

In a swift operation on Saturday evening, the Navi Mumbai Police conducted a raid on a flat in Wahal Village, Sector-23, resulting in the arrest of four bookies involved in online betting between India and Pakistan cricket match in the ongoing Cricket World Cup. The raid successfully curbed illegal betting activities, with police seizing crucial evidence in the process.
The police received intelligence that individuals were using laptops and mobile phones to engage in online betting during the live ODI cricket match between India and Pakistan, which is part of the ongoing World Cup. Acting promptly on this information, Senior Police Inspector Manik Nalavde, Assistant Police Inspector Pratap Desai, and their team launched a raid on Flat Number 401 of Vishwa Sioni Building in Wahal Village, Sector-23, Ulwe.
During the raid, the police apprehended four individuals who were actively participating in online betting using laptops, mobile phones, and other related equipment. Subsequently, the police registered a case against these bookies under the Maharashtra Gambling Prevention Act and took them into custody. In addition to the arrests, law enforcement confiscated 23 mobile phones, 3 laptops, 1 television set, a SIM card, and cash that was being used for betting.
