Mira Road: A 49-year-old woman, resident of Naya Nagar area, tested positive for Covid-19, the first case to be reported from the Mira-Bhayandar region.

The patient is currently undergoing treatment at Tunga Hospital in Bhayandar East.

According to municipal health officials, the woman was admitted on May 30 after she experienced complications related to pre-existing heart and kidney ailments. During routine diagnostic testing, she tested positive for Covid-19. Her condition is reported to be stable.

The Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) has taken steps to deal with any Covid-related emergency. A dedicated 25-bed COVID-19 ward has been established at Pandit Bhimsen Joshi Hospital (Tembha Hospital) to handle potential cases.

Municipal commissioner and administrator Radhabinod Sharma personally inspected the facility to ensure preparedness.

“The public should not panic,” the MBMC said in a statement, assuring that the civic body is fully prepared to manage the situation and provide necessary care. Citizens are encouraged to remain vigilant, follow basic preventive measures, and seek medical attention if symptoms arise.
