Driver killed in Expressway mishap

Panvel: In a tragic incident, a 46-year-old tempo driver was killed while engaged in changing the tyres of his vehicle after his vehicle was hit by a speeding tempo.
The deceased has been identified as KC Mallikarjun Ramappa (46), from Andhra Pradesh. The incident occurred on May 27 near Kalamboli on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway
Mallikarjun and his co-driver Raghula Somayya (48) were transporting goods from Telangana to Mumbai when their tempo had a flat tyre while driving on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway near Asudgaon in Panvel.
The duo was engaged in changing the flat tyre on the side of the road when a speeding tempo rammed into the stationary vehicle. Mallikarjun was crushed under the wheels and died on the spot. The driver of the speeding tempo was also injured in the accident. The Khandeshwar Police have registered a case of negligence.
