The nomination of Naresh Mhaske by the Shiv Sena in the Mahayuti for the Thane Lok Sabha constituency has sparked resentment among BJP workers in Navi Mumbai, leading to a wave of resignations and public displays of displeasure.

Considered a stronghold for the BJP, Thane Lok Sabha constituency witnessed surprise developments as Naresh Mhaske was announced as the candidate by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, sidelining other potential contenders, notably Sanjeev Naik, who was considered a frontrunner by BJP officials.

The abrupt announcement triggered a series of resignations from BJP office-bearers, members, and even former MPs, with many expressing their discontent by turning their backs on Mhaske during his nomination filing process.

Suraj Patil, former- corporator of Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC), emphasized the gravity of the situation, highlighting the need for party leaders to address the concerns of grassroots workers. He stressed that the decision made on Thursday reflects the sentiments of party members, and any further action would be taken after discussions with MLA Ganeshji Naik.

Ravindra Ithape, former House Leader of Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC), issued a firm statement, declaring that no office-bearer would engage in election-related activities until Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis or State President Chandrashekhar Bawankule visit Navi Mumbai to address the grievances of BJP workers.
