After months of rehabilitation at Florida’s Loggerhead Marinelife Center, Dilly Dally, a young loggerhead turtle missing a front flipper, made her triumphant return to the Atlantic on June 4. Despite stormy weather threatening delay, a crowd cheered as she crawled back to the ocean.
Equipped with a satellite tag, thanks to a partnership with the Smithsonian, her journey can now be tracked in real time. Veterinary technician Marika Weber said this tracking will reveal how three-flippered turtles adapt in the wild. Each rescued sea turtle marks a vital win for the endangered species.
