As the new academic year approaches, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation’s (NMMC) Sports Department is gearing up to enrich its students with training in kabaddi, athletics, wrestling, and kho-kho.
NMMC students have consistently demonstrated their prowess in various district and state-level tournaments, showcasing their unwavering dedication to sports. Speaking to Newsband, NMMC's Sports Officer, Revappa Gurav, expressed gratitude towards D-Mart Foundation for their generous sponsorship of 18 coaches across 9 NMMC schools.
"This initiative by D-Mart Foundation is a significant boost for our students. We are thankful that they are investing in the future of our youth through this social initiative," remarked Gurav.
The sponsorship covers the salaries of the coaches as well as any rental fees for practice grounds, ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder the students' training. Priority is given to schools already equipped with playgrounds, with two coaches assigned to each selected school.
The selected schools span from Belapur to Ghansoli, strategically chosen based on the availability of playgrounds in their vicinity. Gurav highlighted the expansion of D-Mart's support from six schools to nine, demonstrating their commitment to enhancing sports education in the region.
"This collaboration with D-Mart Foundation not only enriches our students' sporting abilities but also fosters a culture of community support and empowerment," Gurav concluded.
