Bhayandar: BJP upped the ante in the ongoing container war in Mira-Bhayandar by inaugurating a new container office directly outside the bungalow of municipal commissioner Radhabinod Sharma.
The event, led by BJP MLA Narendra Mehta and Mira Bhayandar BJP president Kishor Sharma, saw heavy police deployment even as BJP workers gathered in large numbers.
For over fifteen years, Mira-Bhayandar has been a battleground for the relentless rivalry between Narendra Mehta and Pratap Sarnaik—two political heavyweights whose mutual animosity has repeatedly spilled into the public domain. From press conferences laced with accusations to bitter disputes over Metro 9 station land and container yards, their feud has become a spectacle.
With the Supreme Court mandating local body elections within four months, the two have once again locked horns, using the city as their arena to showcase strength and influence. Irrespective of party alliances, their clashes resurface each election season, overshadowing public concerns and reducing democracy to a personal grudge match. The citizens of Mira-Bhayandar are left as mere spectators, watching their city’s reputation tarnished by a feud that serves only the egos of two powerful men.
