Navi Mumbai: Addressing the pressing issue of vehicle parking in Vashi, Congress Secretary Madhuri Kale has demanded the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) to make arrangement for vehicle parking on the drains passing by Sector 28 and 29 along Palm Beach Road, extending to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk in Vashi. In her statement to the commissioner, she emphasized the need for this solution to alleviate traffic congestion in the area. Alongside her request, she presented a letter signed by 150 citizens and demanded to convert the drain as a parking area similar to the one near to HSC and SSC Board Office in 16, Vashi.

She further demanded that a traffic signal be installed at the intersecting road connecting Sector 14 and 29.

Her demands also extended to improving civic services in the area. The statement pointed out the inadequate lighting on footpaths, posing a safety concern for women. Overgrown trees obstructing the street lights further exacerbate the issue. Kale stressed the need for better lighting to ensure safety and visibility.

Additionally, the lack of drinking water facilities at Rajiv Gandhi Udyan in Vashi Sector 29 was raised. Kale demanded the provision of this basic amenity. She also called for the redevelopment of roads in Sector 28 and 29, noting that rainwater has made footpaths slippery, creating hazards for pedestrians. A written request was made to apply bleaching powder to these areas to prevent accidents.

Following her discussions with the commissioner, Kale reported a positive response and assurance that the work would be completed to address these issues comprehensively.

Shirish Aaradwad, City Engineer, NMMC said, "Civil works have been done as per demand. Remaining civil works will also be inspected”.
