In a significant development aimed at transforming the landscape of not just Kalyan and Dombivli but the entire Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), Chief Minister Eknath Shinde inaugurated the bhoomi poojan for the ambitious Kalyan Taloja Metro 12 project.

Initiated under the guidance of Kalyan Lok Sabha MP Dr. Shrikant Shinde, the Kalyan Taloja Metro project is poised to revolutionize connectivity with an estimated cost of Rs. 5,865 crores.

This metro line serves as an extension of the Thane-Bhiwandi-Kalyan metro, with the Kalyan Lok Sabha Constituency relentlessly pursuing its realization. Recently, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) announced tenders for the construction of the line and its stations.

Metro 12 will feature 19 elevated stations spanning between Kalyan and Taloja, with MMRDA allocating Rs. 1,521 crores for station construction. The groundbreaking ceremony signifies an acceleration in project momentum, aiming for completion within the next 30 months to serve the commuting needs of thousands.

The project, managed by MMRDA, promises significant relief to Thane residents, with connectivity expansions reaching Kalyan-Dombivli and adjoining rural areas. This infrastructural endeavour aligns with ongoing efforts to enhance connectivity across Thane, Navi Mumbai, and neighbouring regions.

Notably, the Kalyan Taloja Metro's route will extend to villages in Kalyan taluka, facilitating direct connections between Kalyan-Dombivli and Navi Mumbai's Taloja region. Key dignitaries including Public Works Minister Ravindra Chavan, Thane District Guardian Minister Shambhuraj Desai, Thane Collector Ashok Shingare, MLAs, and municipal commissioners graced the occasion.

MP Dr. Shrikant Shinde emphasized the transformative potential of the metro project, envisioning the emergence of a "third Mumbai" between Navi Mumbai and Kalyan. Additionally, plans for an access control road linking Navi Mumbai to Kalyan-Dombivli, Ulhasnagar, Ambernath, Badlapur, and Wangani signify broader infrastructural developments in the region.
