City police launch massive raid under ‘Zero Tolerance’ drive

Rabale: Navi Mumbai police carried out a large-scale night combing operation in the Rabale MIDC area on March 11 as part of their strict “Zero Tolerance” campaign against crime. The action led to the seizure of a country-made pistol, narcotics, and banned gutkha products. During the operation, cases were registered against 20 individuals, and seven wanted accused were successfully arrested.
The operation was conducted under the direction of Police Commissioner Milind Bharambe and was led by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 1) Pankaj Dahane. A total of 177 police personnel participated in the drive, including four police inspectors, 14 officers (API/PSI), and 159 police staff from seven different police stations.
Police teams conducted extensive checks through house-to-house searches and street patrols in several sensitive areas, including Digha, Ishwar Nagar, Chinchpada, Yadav Nagar, and the TTC Industrial Area. The coordinated effort aimed to curb illegal activities and track down offenders involved in various crimes.
During the operation, one person was arrested under the Arms Act after police recovered a country-made pistol. In their action against drug-related offences, authorities registered three cases for drug consumption and one case for possession of narcotics.
Police also cracked down on illegal liquor sales and contraband items. Five cases were registered under the Prohibition Act for the illegal sale of alcohol, while another case was filed for selling banned gutkha products.
As part of the drive, officers inspected 339 vehicles, issuing fines to 72 drivers for traffic violations. Police teams also tracked 15 absconding suspects and inspected nine hotels and lodges to check for suspicious activity.
Additionally, seven accused linked to five pending arrest warrants were apprehended during the operation.
