Warns of action against housing societies

Kharghar: The City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) has intensified its crackdown on illegally installed booster pumps in housing societies across Kharghar. In a recent drive conducted by CIDCO's water supply department, 35 unauthorized booster pumps were seized from sectors 34 and 35 within the past week. CIDCO has issued a stern warning to housing societies in other nodes, including Taloja, Kamothe, Kalamboli, Panvel, Karanjade, Ulwe, and Dronagiri, to remove any illegally installed booster pumps or face legal action.

Despite the regular water supply in Kharghar and the cancellation of the 20% water cut by CIDCO from August 1, complaints about low-pressure water supply in certain sectors prompted an inspection by the water supply department. During this inspection, CIDCO officials discovered that some societies had installed unauthorized booster pumps to increase water pressure. As a result, these pumps were confiscated, and CIDCO has reiterated that legal action will be taken against any society found tampering with the water supply system.

Jitendra Gurkhe, an officer from Keystone Society, expressed frustration over the ongoing water pressure issues in sectors 34 and 35. He claimed that despite repeated correspondence with CIDCO and meetings with officials, the problem remains unresolved. Gurkhe also alleged that while CIDCO removed booster pumps from some societies, it overlooked a particular high-rise tower where a 10 hp motor is being used to illegally draw water, suggesting that CIDCO officials residing in the area might be turning a blind eye.

CIDCO's Public Liaison Officer, Priya Ratambe, confirmed the action taken against housing societies in Kharghar sectors 34 and 35. She also emphasized that if the unauthorized pumps are reinstalled, the societies will face legal consequences. Ratambe assured that similar campaigns would be conducted in other CIDCO nodes to ensure compliance with water supply regulations.

CIDCO's firm stance against unauthorized booster pumps underscores the importance of equitable water distribution and the need for societies to adhere to the rules to avoid disrupting the water supply system.
