Commuters visiting Koparkhairane railway station are breathing a sigh of relief as authorities, in a joint effort, successfully cleared the area of slum dwellers and homeless individuals who had encroached upon the space, causing disturbances and safety concerns.
In response to these challenges, the Swarajya Party demanded prompt action to address the situation and clear the area of unauthorized settlements. Recently, CIDCO and the railway administration collaborated to take decisive action, reclaiming the space from encroachers and ensuring the restoration of order and cleanliness.
The issue began a few months ago when trespassers were removed from a CIDCO plot in Koparkhairane, prompting them to relocate to the open space near the Koparkhairane railway station. These makeshift settlements not only impeded the daily lives of homeless citizens but also created an unsanitary environment, making it challenging for commuters to navigate the area.
The commuters were facing difficulties as squatters set up stoves on footpaths, expanding their presence and impacting the overall cleanliness of the surroundings. Additionally, concerns about safety, especially for women travellers at night, were on the rise due to the presence of alcohol-related activities in the area.
The intervention has not only eased the concerns of residents but has also led to an improvement in the overall atmosphere of the Koparkhairane railway station area. Authorities received appreciation from the local community, acknowledging the joint effort to create a safer and cleaner environment.
Expressing gratitude on behalf of the Swarajya Party, Prashant Missal, Taluka General Secretary, highlighted the positive impact of the authorities' intervention, bringing relief to the residents and commuters of Koparkhairane.
