In recent days, Navi Mumbai residents, grappling with scorching temperatures, have been plunged into discomfort due to frequent power outages across various areas, notably Airoli. The electricity shortages, attributed to operational issues at Mahavitaran, have drawn sharp criticism from citizens and local leaders alike.

Determined to address the pressing issue Former Mayor Sagar Naik, alongside Arun Padte, Sudarshan Jirge, Rajesh Madhvi, and Niketan Patil, met Mr. Gaikwad, a senior official at Mahavitaran, in Vashi. Expressing concerns over the prolonged power cuts, the delegation issued a stern warning to ensure the immediate restoration of smooth power supply.

“Mahavitaran's alleged mismanagement has led to consecutive days of electricity blackouts in the Airoli division, exacerbating the challenges posed by the soaring temperatures, which have surpassed 40 degrees Celsius. The interruptions have disrupted essential services, impacting water supply and rendering many vulnerable residents, particularly the elderly and sick, at risk”, said Sagar Naik.

Meanwhile, the official from the Mahavitaran attributed the outages to heightened loads on power feeders and transformers amid the prevailing heatwave. Mr. Gaikwad assured the delegation of the efforts to redistribute electricity loads for uninterrupted supply.

Naik stressed that Navi Mumbai residents dutifully fulfill their electricity obligations and deserve reliable power provision, warning of escalated actions if disruptions persist.
