Adivasi Kranti Sena threatens to stage "Ulgulan Andolan" and boycott Lok Sabha elections

The Aadivasi Kranti Sena, representing the tribal communities of India, has announced their intention to launch a mass protest "Ulgulan Andolan" against what they perceive as the continued marginalization and exploitation of tribal populations. Led by President Anil Bhangle, Aadivasi Kranti Sena has warned of boycotting the upcoming Lok Sabha elections if political parties fail to prioritize and protect tribal rights.

The members allege that over the past decade, there has been a systematic effort to dispossess tribal communities of their ancestral lands and natural resources, under the guise of development projects and industrialization. They cite instances in states like Assam, Odisha, and Mizoram where tribal lands have been earmarked for acquisition by capitalist interests, with little regard for the welfare of the indigenous inhabitants.

Anil Bhangle lamented the increasing atrocities faced by tribal communities, despite their electoral support for the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the previous elections. He highlighted a staggering number of crimes against tribals, including murders and sexual violence, which have gone largely unaddressed by authorities. According to Bhangle, the BJP-led central government has failed to take adequate measures to protect tribal rights and prevent further injustices.

The Sena's decision to boycott the Lok Sabha elections stems from their belief that political parties have failed to deliver on promises to safeguard tribal interests. Bhangle emphasized that only those parties willing to commit to protecting tribal rights will earn the community's vote. Otherwise, the Sena vows to mobilize public awareness campaigns urging tribals to abstain from voting altogether.

Furthermore, the Sena plans to revive the spirit of the historic "Ulgulan" movement, inspired by revolutionary leader Birsa Munda, to resist encroachments on tribal lands and assert their autonomy. They call upon tribal communities across Maharashtra to unite in solidarity and demand accountability from elected representatives.
