The Koparkhairane Traffic Branch  took action against 860 vehicles found violating traffic regulations as part of its recent enforcement campaign titled 'Follow Traffic Rules and Avoid Fines'. The campaign, aimed at promoting road safety and responsible driving behavior, also included initiatives to raise awareness among students, rickshaw drivers, and the general public.

During the campaign period from 1st to 15th March, the Koparkhairane Traffic Police conducted rigorous checks and patrols to identify and penalize motorists flouting traffic rules. In alignment with the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police Tirupati Kakade from the Navi Mumbai Traffic Department, the traffic police engaged with students from schools and colleges, educating them about traffic regulations and emphasizing the importance of compliance.

Additionally, awareness sessions were held for members of the Rickshaw Union Driver-Owner Association and School Bus Driver-Owner Association, highlighting the significance of adhering to traffic laws to ensure the safety of passengers and pedestrians.

Alongside these efforts, traffic police officers stationed at various intersections diligently managed traffic flow while also educating drivers on the importance of following traffic rules. As a result of these concerted actions, 860 vehicles were fined for various violations during the initial fortnight of March.

The breakdown of violations included instances of signal jumping, talking on mobile phones while driving, overloading of passengers in rickshaws, driving under the influence of alcohol, riding motorcycles without helmets, obstructive parking, wrong-way driving, driving on footpaths, and failure to stop at designated lines.

Vishwas Bhingardive, Assistant Police Inspector in charge of the Koparkhairane Traffic Branch, underscored the significance of such campaigns in fostering a culture of compliance and enhancing road safety standards within the community.
