A woman sustained serious injuries when a stone from an ongoing construction site in Sector 10, Nerul struck her head. The incident has reignited concerns over the activities encroaching into residential areas.

Navi Mumbai's urban landscape has been witnessing a surge in redevelopment endeavours and fresh construction projects, necessitating extensive excavation works. In certain cases, where plots contain rocks, landmines are sanctioned and utilized to break them down. However, the meticulousness required in such operations seems to have been overlooked during an excavation venture in Sector 10.

On Tuesday, April 22, following land excavation activities, stones were inadvertently thrown in the vicinity. Tragically, one of these stones struck a woman who was present at the vegetable market near the railway station, inflicting severe injuries. This incident has raised questions about safety, allegedly flouting prescribed regulations in Navi Mumbai. The lapses in supervision are attributed to the revenue department's alleged negligence.

Ishwar Jadhav, Talathi of Belapur in Thane Tehsil, affirmed, "We will conduct a thorough inspection of the accident site in Nerul caused by the landmine. If any irregularities are unearthed, appropriate actions will be taken against the developer."

Tanaji Bhagat, Police Inspector at Nerul Police Station, added, "The woman injured in the Nerul Sector 10 landmine incident has been hospitalized for treatment. Furthermore, if the developer is found culpable for this mishap post-investigation, legal proceedings will ensue."
