Ulhasnagar: Residents of Ulhasnagar will face scheduled water cuts following a proposed 10% reduction in water supply by the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) amid concerns over reduced rainfall due to El Niño.

According to a civic advisory, water supply from MIDC’s Shahad water treatment plant will remain suspended for 24 hours, from midnight to midnight on Friday, October 16.

From Thursday, October 22, water supply will be shut every week from midnight on Thursday until noon on Saturday, amounting to a 36-hour disruption.

The cuts will affect Ulhasnagar Camp Nos. 1 to 3 and parts of Camp No. 4. The state’s Water Resources Department has directed planned management of available water stocks until August 31, 2027, to ensure drinking water security.

Residents have been urged to store sufficient water, avoid wastage and use supplies judiciously. Water pressure and volumes may remain low even after supply resumes, the advisory warned.
