Ulhasnagar: The crime investigation team of the Central Police Station in Ulhasnagar arrested one person on May 23 and recovered an illegal firearm and live cartridges.

Acting on a tip-off, police team located a Swift car parked suspiciously near the M SEB office adjacent to the Ordnance Factory Compound on Kalyan-Ambernath Road in Ulhasnagar-3.

Inside the car, police found Sachin alias Bauji Bahadur Karotia, 31, a resident of Follower Line, Ulhasnagar-3. Upon searching the vehicle, officers discovered a country-made pistol and two live cartridges from his possession. The pistol, cartridges, and car have been seized.

Karotia was taken into custody and a case was registered under the Indian Arms Act (Sections 3 and 25) and the Maharashtra Police Act (Section 37(1)/135), Shankar Awtade, senior police inspector, said.
