Residents demand traffic control measure

Kharghar: The ongoing issue of vehicles flouting traffic rules on Shilphata Road near the RAF Camp crossing has become a significant concern for commuters and local residents.

Vehicles, including a large truck and several cars, are regularly seen moving on the wrong side of the road, contributing to the chaotic traffic situation in the area.

Rajeev Anand Sharma, a resident from Sector 27, Kharghar said, “Despite the heavy downpour, the vehicles are seen violating traffic rules, indicating a lack of enforcement and the absence of traffic police in this busy section of the road. This irregular flow of traffic not only disrupts the smooth movement of vehicles but also poses a risk to the safety of drivers and pedestrians alike.”
Vandana Pawar, another resident from Kharghar said,
“A combination of wrong timing and another vehicle breaking the signal can lead to a terrible accident. There is an urgent need for traffic police personnel to be stationed at this spot.”

Motorists have repeatedly voiced their concerns, stating that the deployment of traffic police or the installation of surveillance cameras could help curb these violations. "Our pleas have gone unheard, leading to continued traffic chaos and potential accidents, especially during adverse weather conditions," remarked a resident.
