Thane: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of heavy to very heavy rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds over the weekend.

According to the IMD, Mumbai and Thane will remain under a yellow alert from June 12 to 15 due to the revival of monsoon currents. During this period, isolated heavy to very heavy showers are likely.

The situation is expected to intensify on June 14, when the alert level will rise to orange. Intense rainfall, thunder, lightning, and wind speeds of 40–50 km/h are likely, the weather department notified.

Meanwhile, Ratnagiri district has been placed under a red alert for Saturday, with a forecast of extremely heavy rain, violent storms, and strong winds.
