As the scorching heatwave continues to grip various regions, residents are actively seeking relief from the rising temperatures. In response to the sweltering conditions, there has been a notable surge in demand for clay water pots, locally known as “Matha,” or also “Mathka” celebrated for their benefits of naturally keeping water cool. This heightened demand is particularly evident in villages and towns across the Uran area.

Vendors have strategically positioned themselves in bustling areas of Uran city, including Uran Charphata and in front of Anandi Hotel, where they display and sell these traditional clay pots. Additionally, carts adorned with clay pots can be spotted along the streets, reflecting their accessibility and popularity among the populace.

The preference for clay pots stems from the perceived health advantages associated with drinking water stored in them. With concerns mounting over escalating temperatures, residents are increasingly congregating at soft drink shops, seeking relief from the heat. Streets are bustling with activity as individuals flock to juice, sugarcane juice, cold drink, and fruit stalls in search of refreshment.
Available in a variety of sizes and colours, vendors predominantly offer black and red pots, equipped with taps for convenient dispensing. The popularity of red pots, in particular, highlights their appeal, with prices varying based on the size of the pot.
