In a bid to ignite civic engagement and underscore the significance of voting in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, students from Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) run schools have embarked on an innovative campaign using art as their medium of expression.

Under the banner of “Let’s step forward to vote – let’s develop our nation,” students have crafted intricate pictures and vibrant rangoli designs to convey the message of electoral participation.

With the 25 Thane Lok Sabha General Elections scheduled for May 20, 2024, the offices of the 150 Airoli and 151 Belapur Assembly Constituencies have initiated a sweeping voter awareness program to mobilize citizens.

Through this program, students are playing a pivotal role in spreading awareness at all levels, recognizing their role as the future citizens of the nation. They are actively engaging with their parents and relatives, advocating for democratic participation through voting.

In a collaborative effort guided by NMMC Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde, students are channelling their creativity into creating visuals that underscore the importance of voting. This initiative spans across 80 schools, encompassing 57 primary and 23 secondary schools under the Municipal Corporation, as well as over 200 private institutions.

Through these artistic endeavours, students are not only encouraging fellow citizens to vote but also empowering democracy itself. Their dedication has garnered praise from parents, who have visited schools to commend and motivate the young participants.

Furthermore, the commitment of teachers in instilling a sense of national duty regarding voting has been lauded.
