Kharghar: The compound security wall of Kaveri CHS in Sector 5, Kharghar collapsed due to heavy rains over the past two days, posing a serious risk to 56 flat holders of the society. The wall was washed away by the force of water flowing from Kharghar Hill.
The collapse has affected residents in wings G, H, and I of the four-storeyed society, which houses a total of 226 flats. The affected residents have been temporarily relocated to safer areas within the society.
The situation came to light when PWP leader Devendra Madhvi alerted local police, the Panvel Municipal Corporation, and CIDCO administration. In response, an emergency team from the municipal corporation arrived at the scene to assess the damage. A five-member team from the corporation has been assigned to manage the situation.
Municipal Commissioner Mangesh Chitale visited the site and directed Ward Officer Jitendra Madhvi to oversee the evacuation and ensure the safety of the residents. He also suggested relocating residents to a Municipal School if necessary.
Shubham Jadhav, President of society, confirmed that similar incidents have occurred in the past. He assured that the temporary relocation of the 56 affected flat holders is being managed within the society area and that security measures are being enhanced as per Commissioner Chitale's instructions.
