In anticipation of the impending monsoon season, the commissioner of the Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) Dr. Prashant Rasal convened a comprehensive meeting at the municipal headquarters to evaluate the progress of pre-monsoon preparations aimed at averting potential calamities.

The gathering witnessed the presence of key officials including Assistant Director Town Planning Officer Jyoti Kawade, Deputy Commissioners Kailas Gawde and Maruti Gaikwad, City Engineer Sanjay Jagtap, and various department heads such as Chief Accounts Officer Mangesh Gawde and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Anand Gosavi.

During the meeting, the ongoing drain cleaning efforts were extensively discussed, with the Commissioner urging the concerned departments to expedite the remaining cleaning tasks. Emphasizing the importance of proactive measures, Dr. Rasal instructed the installation of pumps in areas prone to water accumulation to mitigate flooding risks.

Furthermore, directives were issued regarding the identification and removal of hazardous trees and branches in collaboration with the Electricity Department, with a mandate to promptly clear debris post-operation. Stressing on public health preparedness, the Commissioner mandated the stocking of essential medicines ahead of the monsoon onslaught.

Road repair and construction initiatives also came under scrutiny, with the Commissioner urging the construction department to finalize all pending works before the onset of the rainy season.

Of significant concern were the hazardous structures identified within the municipal limits, with Dr. Rasal calling for immediate action to vacate such buildings and ensure public safety. Ward officers were tasked with spearheading this initiative, with a deadline set for completion by May 25.

Dr. Prashant Rasal highlighted the collective responsibility of all departments in executing these crucial tasks to safeguard the citizens of Panvel during the monsoon period.

With a focused approach and coordinated efforts, Panvel endeavours to fortify its infrastructure and minimize the impact of monsoon-related challenges on its residents.
