Rs. 480 crores allocated following MLA Prashant Thakur's advocacy

In a significant development, Panvel is set to experience uninterrupted power supply as the government has allocated a fund of Rs. 480 crores to address and rectify issues that have plagued the region. The breakthrough comes as a result of the persistent efforts and advocacy by MLA Prashant Thakur, who demanded to alleviate the challenges faced by citizens due to frequent power outages.

During the ongoing legislative session in Nagpur, MLA Prashant Thakur raised the issue of persistent power disruptions in urban and rural areas of Panvel, highlighting the adverse effects on both citizens and electrical equipment. Recognizing the urgency of the matter, Thakur filed a starred question, prompting Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to respond with a written statement.

Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis revealed that approximately Rs. 254.11 crores had already been spent on various schemes aimed at ensuring uninterrupted power supply to Panvel's urban and rural areas. Furthermore, an additional fund of Rs.480.40 crores has been proposed under the Reformed Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) to address the remaining challenges and fortify the region's power infrastructure.

MLA Thakur's advocacy was particularly focused on the need for undergrounding overhead electric lines, the establishment of new substations, transformers, and the replacement of dilapidated poles and electric lines. The Deputy Chief Minister acknowledged the importance of these initiatives and assured that the allocated funds would be instrumental in addressing these concerns.

Responding to the positive development, MLA Prashant Thakur expressed his gratitude to Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and the government for their prompt action in response to the demands made during the legislative session. He emphasized that this initiative would not only alleviate the hardships faced by Panvel residents but also safeguard expensive electronic equipment from potential damage caused by power disruptions.

The announcement has been met with relief and appreciation from the residents of Kharghar, Kalamboli, Kamothe, Taloje, Panvel city, and the rural areas of Panvel taluka, who have long endured the consequences of unreliable power supply.
