Panvel: Police have registered a case against a 28-year-old from Beed district for luring a woman with the promise of marriage, living with her and then abandoning her.

The accused was residing in Taloja, when he developed a romantic relationship with the 23-year-old victim. The accused allegedly promised to marry the victim and the duo eloped from Taloja village. The duo started living together and the couple had a daughter about two-years ago.

The accused later abandoned the victim and their child and fled to his native place. The victim tried to confront the accused at his native place, however, his family refused to accept her which led to a confrontation. During the argument, the victim fainted and was admitted to a local hospital.

Following this, Beed police recorded her statement and registered a case of kidnapping and rape against Kiran for refusing to accept the victim and their child. The case has since been transferred to the Taloja police for further investigation.
