Over 1,300 women complete in Women’s Mini Marathon, promoting a clean and green Navi Mumbai

Nerul: Over 1,300 women from various age groups took part in a 5 km Women’s Mini Marathon organised by Dr D.Y. Patil University’s School of Hospitality and Tourism Studies in collaboration with the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) to mark International Women’s Day.

The event, held at the university stadium under the supervision of Vice-Chancellor Dr Vijay D. Patil and guided by Dr Shivani Patil, aimed to promote cleanliness, environmental awareness, and healthy living. Mayor Sujata Patil and NMMC Commissioner Dr Kailas Shinde were present for the event, alongside officials, including Deputy Commissioner of Solid Waste Management Dr Ajay Gadade and Deputy Commissioner of Sports Abhilasha Mhatre.

The marathon, titled ‘Ghe Bharari’, encouraged women to embrace fitness and public participation while supporting the Swachh Bharat Mission. In the race, Nidhi Kanojia secured first place, Bhumi Mhatre finished second, and Ekta Rajbhar came third.

Officials highlighted that such events not only promote women’s health and well-being but also foster civic awareness and community engagement, contributing to NMMC’s broader objectives of a clean and green city.
