Excessive speed suspected as cause; traffic temporarily blocked

On Friday, April 19th, a severe car accident occurred on the bustling Palm Beach Road near Sanpada, disrupting traffic and leaving one individual injured. Initial reports suggest that the accident, which transpired on the route from Belapur to Vashi, was likely caused by excessive speed—a prevalent issue on the notoriously fast-paced Palm Beach Road, often dubbed the "Queen’s Necklace" of Navi Mumbai.

According to eyewitnesses, a Honda City sedan, traveling at high velocity towards Belapur via Vashi, lost control near Sanpada, colliding with a median before careening into a nearby tree. The impact was so forceful that the tree was uprooted, and the vehicle sustained significant damage. The driver, identified as Akhil Pillai, sustained injuries in the accident and has since been hospitalized for treatment.

The aftermath of the incident led to a temporary blockage of traffic along Palm Beach Road, exacerbating congestion. However, prompt intervention by traffic authorities helped alleviate the gridlock and restore normalcy to the affected area.
