Navi Mumbai: The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation’s (NMMC) Park Department's pre-monsoon tree pruning efforts have come under scrutiny following a recent incident involving a dangerously leaning tree. On Tuesday, August 13, a tree, which had not been properly pruned, fell onto a vehicle near the Municipal Corporation hospital in Sector 3, Airoli.

The tree, which had been leaning precariously, struck a container and subsequently fell onto another vehicle. While there were no injuries reported, the incident caused significant damage to the four-wheeler involved.

The mishap has highlighted the inadequacies in the tree pruning process carried out by the Parks Department. There are growing concerns that many trees in the city are still in a hazardous state, potentially posing risks to public safety.

In light of this incident, there are increasing demands for the Parks Department to expedite the proper pruning of dangerous trees before the Ganeshotsav festival. Ensuring that all leaning and hazardous trees are addressed promptly is crucial to prevent further accidents and damage during the upcoming celebrations.
